Drinking Living Water from a Fire Hose, Day 10: Judges, Psalm 49-54, Proverbs 10, Luke 23-John 4

Judges 4:2, “God SOLD them…” I guess this so He could REDEEM them when He felt the time was right.
Deborah- when a man will not rise up to the challenge God offers, He raises up a woman who is obedient. Mom says that preaching and laboring in ministry is beneath a woman’s station, she should be above all that. Love, a higher call.
Judges 5:5 The mountains quaked before the LORD, the One of Sinai, before the LORD, the God of Israel.
That’s kind of lyrical…
5:6 “In the days of Shamgar son of Anath, in the days of Jael, the highways were abandoned; travelers took to winding paths.
Anyone remember “Shamgar had an oxgoad?” Now THAT’s lyrical… well. maybe in Hebrew. 😉
20 From the heavens the stars fought,
from their courses they fought against Sisera.
That is an interesting perspective. Inspired and accurate, or just trying to be poetic? Or inspired, accurate AND poetic?
Judges 6- man tests God… so why is this a good thing here, that God honors, and a bad thing everywhere else – “Thou shalt not put the Lord thy God to the test.” Judges 7 God tests man LOL only fair I suppose. Trimming the fat off the army of Gideon.

Judges 11: Jephthah. Wow. Expected to see the family pet and his daughter came out the door. And he fulfilled his vow and sacrificed her as a burnt offering to God? Because he vowed it. Awful. Foolish. Why didn’t God send out a sheep or something else? Did God want his daughter to be burned? Sounds more like something Molech would have wanted. Hmmm.

Judges 12- Ibzan died and was buried in Bethlehem. Must look into that one. Judges 13, an angel named פֶלִאי
=phlai = “marvelous” Judges 16 Flirting with disaster… I mean Delilah. Or do I?
Judges 18-A stolen idol, a stolen priest, Judges 20- Concubine Cadaver Cut-up, Bad Benjamites Beaten.
Psalm 49: you can’t take it with you.
Psalm 54:4 Surely God is my help;
the Lord is the one who sustains me.
Proverbs 10:22 The blessing of the LORD brings wealth, without painful toil for it. Please, God. Bless me.

Luke 24: 45: Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. Please?
John 1:16 grace for grace
John 1:47 I think this exchange, and these words, are hilarious.
John 2: Water into wine, awesome. And DON’T tell me it wasn’t WINE, because my Bible not only says it WAS wine, it says the people at the party tasted it and said it was good wine. (John 2:10) Money – changers, out of the temple. One wonders about what Jesus would do to televangelists.
Just in case someone needs to know it, and accidently stumbles upon my blog, it says it here in John 3:36: 36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them.

Believe.

John 4: A Samaritan woman of choices. Jesus sees her as she does not: a beautiful creation of God. She comes to understand who Jesus is and invites all her friends to meet him. And many of them believed. Awesome. Thank you Jesus for loving me too.
